About Dr. Marvin's Practice

For over a quarter-century, I have provided psychological services to clients from many walks of life who have presented a diverse range of issues. I am available for individual, couples, and family therapy sessions. The majority of clients seek my assistance for distress related to relationship issues, job stress, and situational events. Overcoming depression and anxiety as well as adjusting to "bumps in the road" are common presented goals. Please look over the Issues Addressed section to see what typical clients present.

I have extensive experience with post-trauma reactions due to my many years of service to public safety agencies. Make sure to visit my Public Safety Psychology section to learn about my related experience -- especially if you (or a family member) are employed with a law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical, or emergency dispatch agency.

I welcome inquiries from military veterans who are hesitant about seeking psychological assistance because of concern about service confidentiality and career security. That is, many veterans prefer to seek psychological consultation about post-trauma reactions outside of the VA system to avoid the bureaucratic paper trail.

In addition to my private practice, I am Chief Psychologist of Community Research Foundation (CRF). CRF has 26 mental health programs in San Diego County providing services to children, families, and adults. My responsibilities include clinical supervision and training of post-doctoral, doctoral, and masters degree level interns who are in process of attaining graduate school and state licensing board requirements. My position allows me to stay current on research and advances in the mental health field. I also develop and present seminars that fulfill mandated continuing educational requirements for Licensed Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists.
